Customs Supervisor / Manager Copy

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Customs Specialist to join their team  at Heathrow.  The role may also be appropriate for Trade Compliance Managers, Customs Compliance Managers, Customs Managers, Customs Supervisors or Trade Compliance Supervisors.

Job Type: Permanent, Full time, office based, with core hours 09:00 -17:00 Monday to Friday

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multinational in-house transportation operation. The primary role is ensuring products and components are imported into or exported out of the UK in strict compliance with all applicable import and export laws and regulations, in the most cost and time efficient manner, minimizing associated duties/taxes and carriage costs.

This is a new role and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the new Customs department and develop the standard operating procedure.

Customs Specialist – Responsibilities:

-The go to expert for everything customs related

-Assist with EU Exit preparations and support the Brexit project group

-Build, develop and manage the Customs Department, always striving for continuous improvement

-To lead excellence in customs management and compliance, whilst ensuring that in providing this service, the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies

-Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all Import & Export declarations and Transit Movements

-Ensure proper product classification according to ECCN requirements and determine if licenses are required to Import and/or Export goods

-Develop and maintain entry information in accordance with local and internal record keeping regulations.

-Ensure all Customer needs are met or exceeded, within our Compliance Controls

-To produce, analyse and manage identified Key Performance Indicators for the customs activities and ensure that targets are met. Responsible for monitoring, reporting, analysing and presenting data

-Develop and maintain entry information in accordance with local and internal record keeping regulations.

-Provide accurate interpretation of applicable customs regulations: HMRC and other government import/export regulations.

-Develop and maintain detailed written trade compliance and ISO 9001 procedures

Customs Specialist – Requirements:

-5+ years of work experience, proficiency in UK / EU Customs regulations, the Harmonized Tariff System

-Excellent working knowledge of import and export customs procedures, primarily road freight

-Proven commercial background

-Strong IT skills

-Experience of using Sequoia Customs Software is desirable
