I.T. Infrastructure Manager

This freight and logistics company is looking for an infrastructure manager, with extensive systems and network experience.  Based in Gray, Essex, there will be some UK and European travel.

Working within a regional IT structure (UK/Europe), the main purpose of this position is to support the team implementing and maintaining the region’s IT infrastructure, in accordance with the Global IT plan. The duties include providing technical expertise and direction to the regional IT analysts, monitoring and assessing the systems, finding areas that need upgrading or improvement.

The role will be primarily based at a busy logistics facility, but with remit including satellite offices and bringing technical expertise to our wider European team. There is a strategic focus on high availability and a stable infrastructure. Key responsibilities include designing and managing network and server solutions, firewalls, switches, wireless LAN, PCs, printers & VoIP telephony and monitor network performance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Managing all IT Infrastructure related aspects within the UK or NL
  • Escalation support for all local staff
  • Providing expertise on Networking and Security for EUR Offices (Firewalls, Antivirus, TDR, Switching, etc,.)
  • Managing and Supporting applications and services in use within the business
  • Assessing the requirement for, and procurement of IT related hardware, software, applications and licences
  • Identifying and delivering continuous Innovation and Best Practice solutions
  • Management of local and regional IT projects, in line with Global strategy

Preferred Qualifications

  • A+ / N+ / Security+
  • Microsoft / CompTIA+ Certifications
  • CCNA
  • Advantageous - BTech IT Certificate
  • Advantageous – Management Degree with strong Technical ability

Required Skills:

Self-Management – We don’t believe in micromanagement. You need to possess the drive and ability to take project and run with it

Technical – Experience in our core technology stack is not required but would be highly beneficial.

Logic – Things don’t always make sense. You need to have the ability to work through and make logical sense of complicated and often illogical solutions and processes. You must be able to think outside of the box.

Language – The company has a global footprint, with offices and clients practically everywhere. The ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English, is a must. Other languages could prove to be useful.

Communication – You daily job will regularly require communication with your fellow colleagues. The ability to clearly communicate, on a technical level, is essential to your job. This includes verbal and written communication.

Salary in the region of £40000 to £45000 aae.
