Junior Shipping Operations Administrator

Our client based in London is looking for a person with 1 or 2 years experience in general logistics with a finance or customer services background.

Dealing with Commodities such as raw material, coffee, copper and gold

Job Spec;

  • FREIGHT FORWARDING / CONTAINERS AND/ OR BULK CARGO HANDLING AND ADMINISTRATION EXPERIENCE PREFERABLE
  • SOFT COMMODITY ADVANTAGEOUS
  • COMPETENT IT SKILLS: MS OFFICE / EXCEL / WORD / IN-HOUSE TRADING / ADMIN SYSTEM -
  • SOUND MATHS AND ENGLISH QUALIFICATIONS
  • CONFIDENT COMMUNICATOR, WRITTEN AND VERBAL, SKYPE, EMAIL,
  • FLEXIBLE ATTITUDE
    • SHIPPING OPERATIONAL ADMINSTRATOR ACTIVITES INCLUDE:
      • Nominate vessels & container bookings against purchase and sales contracts
      • Appoint Cargo surveyor and provide contractual Supervision instructions for Inspection of vessel holds or containers for cleanliness, Check weight, quality, perform sampling and analysis of cargo, Produce certificates
      • Compile and send Documentary Instructions for Shipping documents, which would include: Bills of Lading, Certificate of Origin, Supervision certificates, Health certificate, Insurance Certs, Phytosanitary Certs
      • Raise purchase and sales invoices in Trading, Admin, Accounting System (ITAS)
      • Present shipping documents to bank for payment, raise ancillary costs invoices, eg: Freight, Supervision, broker fees, Insurances premiums.
      • Liaise constantly with Sellers, Buyers, Brokers, Supervision, Ships Agencies
      • Stock management – handle Delivery orders, invoices , payments, cash balance
      • Learn and develop knowledge of Demurrage and Despatch calculations on time allowed for bulk vessels
  • Support Operators with the execution of Purchase and Sales contracts under Incoterms, eg: FOB, CIF, CFR, FCA with tasks which include:
