Seafreight Import Manager

This rare opening is for this progressive privately owned freight forwarding company based Heathrow with worldwide offices.  Managing a busy import seafreight team and reporting to Director level.

The seafreight import manager’s responsibilities include organizing import operations and ensuring that they are carried out effectively and efficiently.  He/she also administrates and directs the transportation of commodities and products.  He/she executes the roles and duties of a negotiator for the concerned organization and for the associates who import from different geographical destinations.  He/she makes sure that all the commodities and products have been delivered properly and on time.

The  import manager executes the following key roles and responsibilities that are mentioned below:

  • Administrating the operations of the department as per the particularities of the clients, and making sure that the targets and SLA of the customers are met.
  • Coping up and communicating with the third parties involved in the day to day operations of the department.
  • Administrating and supervising the workings and undertakings of the workers in the import section of the organization and handling the interactions with the clients and sellers.
  • Responsible for the negotiation of freight rates & transport rates for the regular customers of the department.
  • Insuring that transport rates are to be negotiated with only approved suppliers (the one appearing on the transport sheet), and that any new rates are given to the transport sheet administrator.
  • Responsible for monitoring and updating supplier costs in customer’s quotations and on the system (Cargowise)
  • Making sure that all these import programs are in agreement with the accepted rules and regulations of the organization.
  • Insuring all jobs have accurate accruals in the system.
  • Completing all other operational undertakings and workings related to the imports of the organization and ensuring their compliance with the general policies of the same.
  • Working with In House Sales team, and maintaining a healthy and productive relationship.
  • Creating and negotiating new quotations.
  • Arrange Marine Insurance for import and export.
  • Manage bookings from origin to final destination.
  • Liaise and work with network of agents already on our panel.
  • Month Closing, doing comparison reports.
  • Manage queries within the deadlines set by the company.
  • Insuring that information on the system (Cargowise) is updated on time, and that accurate information is reflected in client’s reports and client’s portal.
  • Insuring all members of the department is inserting data in the system in a unified format.
  • Insuring all customers are set to receive basic notifications, and that key customers are set to receive weekly (accurate!) reports.
  • Creating team spirit which is line with the company’s culture. Arrange regular one on one, and monthly department meeting.
  • Taking role in company’s activities which are aim to enhance company’s culture.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Salary in the region of £45000 to £55000 aae
