Warehouse Night Shift Supervisor

This long established medium sized freight forwarder based Heathrow requires an experienced Night Shift supervisor for their busy warehouse operation.


To work in conjunction with the Warehouse Manager ensuring that all day-to-day tasks of the warehouse are effectively carried out in accordance with the company's standard operating procedures, and to deputise in absence of the Warehouse Manager.

Working on a Mon-Fri working week with hours of 21.30 to 0600.

This role would suit a 'hands on' supervisor willing to muck in!!

Overall responsibility

To undertake all work as instructed by your Manager.

To supervise the staff allocated and ensure their full compliance on all policies and procedures, with direct reporting of any issues to the Warehouse Manager.

To effectively supervise all warehouse staff on a day-to-day basis and deputise in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.

To issue staff workloads and ensure that all duties are carried out by staff in accordance with standard operating procedures, working in a safe manner which meets Health & safety legislation and company procedures.

General responsibilities

To complete workload allocated by Manager, communicating any delays.

Ensure that all warehouse operations are compliant with health and safety policies and that the general appearance of the warehouse and external areas are kept in good order.

To ensure that the security of the site is monitored and complied with as set out in the company security policy.

Always protect the interests of the business and escalate any areas of concern to the management.

Set a positive example on conduct and work completion for team members to follow.

Support the development of your assigned team members, highlighting knowledge gaps and suggesting training requirements to your manager.

Specific Responsibilities

To issue staff workloads and ensure that all duties are carried out by staff in accordance with Health & Safety Legislation, Aviation Security requirements, Company policy and standard operating procedures.

To ensure breaches of standard operating procedures or regulatory legislation are recorded and reviewed with your Manager to avoid a repeat.

To check any export labelling completed by staff members on the shift.

To induct all additional warehouse staff as required, ensuring staff are adequately trained and perform to Company standards.

Making sure efficient practices are adopted in the warehouse by all staff.

Deputise for the Warehouse Manager and work alongside the Warehouse Operations Manager accordingly.

To support the team with driver reception; vehicle loading / unloading & cargo handling as required.

Daily routines

Conduct a team briefing and de-briefing at the start and end of each shift.

Ensure that all warehouse operations are compliant with Health & Safety and Aviation Security policies.

To ensure that all documentation is completed and done in a timely manner by all staff.

Maintain appropriate supplies of warehouse consumables to ensure continuous service delivery.

Ensure a detailed handover of work status to the next shift Supervisor.

Reporting Requirements

Ensure the maintenance of mechanical handling equipment (MHE) is up to date and all faults are reported using the correct documentation.

Any security or health and safety incidents are reported immediately to the Warehouse Manager.

To make sure that the warehouses KPI’s are met on a daily / weekly basis.

Staff training requirements or non-performance issues should be reported to Manager at earliest opportunity.
