Our client based near Southampton are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager.  The company is well established worldwide freight company and have depots in 90 countries with 75,000 employees.

Brief Overview

This company is a worldwide leading transport, freight forwarding and logistic company and currently have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join their Air & Sea office in Southampton.

They are looking for an individual to work alongside their experienced import and export teams to handle air and sea shipments from and to worldwide origins/destinations. The role entails customer contact, management of staff, management of branch P+L plus support of our business retention and sales team to drive the continuous growth of the branch.

Key Tasks

  • Liaise / co-ordinate with internal and external customers, ensuring a high level of customer service is maintained.
  • Ensure effective/timely communication with customers and employees to ensure smooth running of the branch.
  • Manage daily branch huddle boards.
  • Weekly ops meeting with team leaders.
  • Complete daily/weekly KPI reviews.
  • Weekly meetings with BM or Senior.
  • Control all branch P+L activity.
  • Review and manage costings on a weekly basis.
  • Identify and resolve high GP/high loss shipment files
  • Review management KPI’s
  • Ensure top 20 clients are contacted on regular basis & resolve any service issues.
  • Work with local and regional sales department to ensure new and existing business is effectively controlled by the branch.
  • Ensure dialogue with BCM – Back office to support branch and client activity.

Key Skills

  • Strong Import & export knowledge (Air & Sea)
  • CW1 (Cargowise One) Knowledge preferable
  • Must be able to manage overseas office dialogue
