An exciting opportunity for a dynamic Ocean Freight Manager to join a rapidly growing international Freight Forwarder in London.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Ocean Freight Manager serves as one of the company's leaders, overseeing the day to day operations of the Sea Freight team and aiming to promote growth within company while ensuring achievement of the operational targets.

The role is to effectively manage and support Sea Freight team while ensuring high morale and performance standards are maintained.

Salary £45-50k

Manage both Import and Export shipments (including cross trade) in accordance with procedure ensuring compliance with relevant local, country and international compliance and customer requirements

Evaluate improvements of existing procedures and working environments to advance the service level to the customer, profitability of the company, and professional development of fellow staff members.

Assure proper information flow with sales on tariffs, changes and/or problems with external customers, with specific focus on Ocean Forwarding concerns, Hauliers, Port operation etc. Manage financial processes and transactions in accordance with company policy, optimizing cost-effectiveness of Ocean import activities

Investigate, plan and implement transport methods that are strategically effective and relevant, and which optimally meet the needs of the organization and its suppliers and customers

Prepare quotations, review customer profiles and rate structures Support Sales Department with customer information, rates, etc.

Negotiate and manage contracts with providers, as required, to enable cost-effective transportation services

Preparing and managing the departmental objectives, financial targets and strategies to increase revenue

Monitoring and reporting key performance parameters to ensure their department is running as efficiently as possible

Stand as an example of what the Company aims to achieve and promote a good working culture positive team building and morale

Leading and managing the Sea freight department on day to day basis, ensuring low retention of people and control of recruitment


Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in the freight forwarding industry (import and export) - ESSENTIAL

Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in managerial role — ESSENTIAL

Knowledge of Cargowise software - DESIRABLE

A degree or equivalent qualification — DESIRABLE

Proven leadership skills - ability to manage and motivate

Ability to organise workflow, build relevant skills and provide employee feedback

Strong communications and organisational skills

Strong work ethics with focus on attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to identify, develop, and implement improved ways Of working

Strong planning, organisation, and prioritising skills

Team player and self-driven with positive attitude

Proficient with MS Office Packages and databases
